Frequently Asked Questions

  • Who are the students that attend RSTI?

RSTI trains a variety of students from all over the world including those who are already employed, looking for a career change, or want to begin their career path in diagnostic imaging service.  Service professionals come to RSTI from many different organizations, including hospitals and medical centers, third party and independent service groups, manufacturers, shared service groups, capital asset management companies, government (VA) facilities and military bases and hospitals.  Individuals who are eligible for government assistance (TAA) or have the means to pay on their own also attend RSTI for job re-training.  The variety of students we have at RSTI during each training session affords substantial networking opportunities and allows for exchange of ideas that further enhance your educational experience.

  • How much does training cost, and what expenses will I
    be responsible for?

Tuition prices, listed on the registration form, include registration fees, course tuition, and fees for the classroom manual.  You will be responsible for travel expenses (airfare or mileage, hotel, car, meals).  We have a “full coverage package” which includes hotel accommodations, 2 meals per day, and transportation.  The cost of the “full coverage package” is in addition to tuition.

  • What are the pre-requisites to attend training?

The majority of our classes require a 2-year degree in electronics or equivalent experience.  Instructors can evaluate individual qualifications upon request.  Specific prerequisites are listed on each course outline.

  • What can I expect when I arrive at RSTI?

Classes are typically structured to include classroom lecture in the morning, break for lunch, and hands-on labs in the afternoon.  The atmosphere is friendly, comfortable and informal.  In addition to your instructor, you will meet the rest of RSTI’s staff who will do everything they can to make your stay at RSTI pleasant.  RSTI has a fully equipped cafeteria with a soda machine, microwave, refrigerator, toaster oven, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate.  The dress code is casual.

  • What should I bring with me?

This page provides incoming students with a list of recommended supplies to help enhance their learning experience.

  • Does RSTI run training courses on-site?

Yes, on-site training courses are available upon request.  Tuition varies depending on course length, number of students, subject matter, and time of year.  Popular on-site training courses include Phase V and any of its components (networking, DICOM, PACS) and Capital Asset Management.  Our X-Ray Certificate Series classes, Phases I-IV, are generally not offered on-site because of the variety of equipment we have installed at RSTI for hands-on labs.  It is often difficult to schedule practical application on equipment that is used and in demand at a hospital.

Short courses are also offered regularly to local biomedical societies and technical schools.  These provide a general overview of what is taught at RSTI and what can be expected in the field of diagnostic imaging repair and maintenance.

  • Can RSTI customize a class that I don't see on the schedule?

RSTI can customize classes upon request.  This includes, but is not limited to, course content, length of course, specific products that are not listed on our Technical Training Schedule, and specific diagnostic imaging applications.  RSTI’s team of instructors is experienced in curriculum design and welcomes any opportunity to customize training programs to meet our customers’ needs.
