RSTI Mourns the Loss of Terrence M. Speth, Founder and President

The diagnostic imaging
service industry lost one of its greatest visionary leaders on December 29,
2008. Twenty-five (25) years ago, Terry Speth envisioned the need for
independent, multivendor service training in an industry that was dominated by
the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM’s). From its humble beginnings in
Solon, Ohio, Terry created the first hands-on diagnostic imaging training
center. His electronics training in the US Navy and his tenure managing training
and development for Picker X-Ray gave him a unique combination of skills which
made RSTI an immediate and long term success.
The classroom experience
with Terry was unparalleled. His years of experience, his stories, and his jokes
allowed him to connect with each and every student with whom he came in contact.
If one were lucky enough to be in his class, not only did you learn the
curriculum, but you benefited from the sheer joy he received from helping every
individual be the best they could be. Whether you met him in the lunch room or
on student night out, you knew that you were in the presence of a great
charismatic person. His teaching, his expertise and his entrepreneurial spirit
inspired everyone and spawned many hospital in-house service groups and
independent service organizations. Anyone trained by RSTI has immediate
credentials in the service industry, allowing one to further his career and even
open his own business. Terry was very passionate about all that he did. He has
left a legacy that will not soon be forgotten.
Despite this tragic loss, RSTI will continue to do what it does best. Four new
classes will begin on January 5, 2009. Over the years, Terry hand-picked the
staff that he knew would carry his training mission forward with the same
unbridled enthusiasm and emphasis on quality. Even though future students will
not have the benefit of meeting and knowing the Founder and President, they will
be trained in the largest and best diagnostic imaging training center in the
world.
A memorial scholarship is being established in Terry’s name. If you or your
organization would like to contribute, we will post the information on our
website as well as in the next newsletter.
